Ring out the bells

I have wonderful memories of Hogmanay when I was growing up.

The big parties, going from house to house till the wee small hours, in the snow! I guess the snow wasn't every year, but in my mind it was!

I loved to see all the adults, who were normally quiet and....adult-like...laughing and dancing and having fun.

I loved it when, at midnight, everything else stopped and everyone hugged and kissed and clinked their glasses to see in the New Year in style.

It's much quieter now that I am one of the adults. The party we go to is much smaller and full of discussion and meaningful conversation. No dancing, but we do laugh and we do have fun.

I wonder how Thomas and Megan will remember it in 30 years time!!!

New Year can be a sad time, as we close the door firmly behind us. We can't go back.

But we can move forward. And we can take on new challenges, and make new memories.

Today I am grateful for all the people I have known and loved, who made me who I am today.

I wish peace, joy and fulfilment to all those I love, in 2013.

Gratefully yours.
xx
