This morning the kids and I went for a lovely walk, before the rain came on! We walked out to the river, where the local council has recently, very kindly, built a lovely walkway, along with very necessary traffic lights at several places, so that we can cross the busy road safely. We crossed back over then at the bird sanctuary, where we fed a few swans and ducks, and a huge flock of seagulls!
Then, on the way home, I was struck, as I often am, by the amazing contrasts between the man-made environment and Mother Nature's ever-present input. So, I challenged the kids to photograph some of their favourite "contrasts" as we walked home.
These are just a few of the beautiful pictures we came up with.
We all had a whole new experience, seeing things that we had never noticed before, about a place we all know well (or thought we did!). It brought home to me how much we look, but how little we actually see! I am definitely going to bring the camera out with me the next time we all go out for a walk!
So, today I am grateful that the kids and I all had our eyes opened and had the chance to really see where we live. It really is quite beautiful!
Gratefully yours.
