Meggie and I love when Munster are playing in Thomond Park. We are not avid rugby fans, but we do love the fact than when Munster play locally, the boys go to the match....and we get to have a "Girls Night In".
The Girls Night begins minutes after we drop the boys at Thomond Park. We head straight for Dunnes to get the necessary supplies. Tonight these included new PJs, crisps and chocolate. Sometimes a new DVD and/or a bottle of fizzy are also required, but not tonight. Meggie already had a plan in her head!
First we did a little bit of re-arranging in her room. Moved the furniture round for a bit of a change. Well, they do say that a change is as good as a rest! And in Meggie's case, a change is as good as a new paint job and new furniture!! Hopefully the new arrangement of old furniture will keep her happy for another while!
Then it was down to the lounge to put feet up, open the crisps and put on a DVD. She has good taste...tonight she chose Mama Mia! Even Gorgeous joined us on the couch to watch...although I drew the line at her eating the crisps!
But, of course, all good things must come to an end, and our Girls Night ended with a phone call from the boys to go and pick them up! I normally let them walk home, but with Thomas having been poorly these last couple of days, I said he could only go if I dropped them off and picked them up again.....I think I ended up with the short straw, again!!!
Anyway, today I am grateful for a wonderful Girls Night In with my darling daughter.
Gratefully yours.
xx
I'd go for one of those 1950s RomComs with Gregory Peck (the ONLY Cpt Hornblower!) or even earlier with Katherine Hepburn, or talking of Hepburns - how about Breakfast at Tiffanys, bliss! I'd settle for Mamma Mia and a bit of you chocolate tho xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mamma Mia...saw me through many a sad evening when Bill died - just put it on for company...I know it outside in and back to front!!In fact...was planning to watch a film tonight...
ReplyDeleteThat sounds absolutely lovely. Here's hoping I will be able to persuade one of my boys to watch films with mum and eat crisps. Mamma Mia might not be good for their street cred, but would definitely settle for Harry Potter, or even X-Men!
ReplyDeleteMarble says that she needs to teach Gorgeous the art of pinching crisps!! Xxx P.S. I still enjoy girls nights in with my Mum!! X
