Going viral

I never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but today I am grateful that Thomas has a virus.

The reason I am happy about it is not that I am a nasty, horrible mum, but that I thought he might have had a grumbling appendix! I am very glad I was wrong!

A good argument for the fact that worrying does help! If you think the worst, then it probably won't be as bad as you expect!! On the whole though, I must tell you that I think worrying is really a waste of valuable time! (At least I try to tell myself that!)

If you work on the premise that living in the present, mindfulness, is the way to go if you want to live a happy and fulfilling life, then there really is no place for worry, which is totally focused on the future.

I am a natural born worrier. Always have been. So is Thomas. I see the negative impact it has on him in a way that I never saw it in myself. It totally shuts you off to everything that is going on around you. Shuts you off from any positivity, and any hope of finding a positive solution to whatever is worrying you! Talk about a vicious downward spiral!!!

As this year for me is all about becoming more positive, I am glad to have the opportunity to see this negative behaviour for what it is. My big job now, of course, is to help Thomas to see it too!!!

Gratefully yours.
xx

  2. Worrying? Don't get me started! Would very much like to join you in jettisoning that part of my mental make-up. Unfortunately, motherhood doesn't help! You are hundred percent right, however. Will try with you x
