Cuddles

Picture the scene....It's dark outside. Someone is having a shower in an adjoining room, but you are enveloped in sleep and the sound of the water and the hum of the shower only serve to lull you deeper into your dream world. The bed is warm and beautifully comfy. You move slightly and realise that something has crept into the bed beside you under cover of the shower's noise. A small, warm hand winds itself into your hair and two cold feet find the warmth of your thigh. Then, just as you are adjusting to the change, the blanket on the other side of you lifts almost imperceptibly, and another, slightly larger form enters your domain. It almost exactly mirrors the warm hand and cold feet of the other intruder!

An hour later, and the shower has long since been switched off, the showeree having dressed, breakfasted and left the house without a single sound to wake the sleeping trio. But, there is only so long that you can sleep on your back without being able to move at all! So you have to try, very gently, to untangle the limbs and extricate yourself without waking the small bundles on either side.

It doesn't work, of course, so now you are all awake, and ready to face into the rest of the school holiday!

Today I am grateful for school holiday morning snuggles. Long may they last!

Gratefully yours.
xx

  1. What a beautifully painted picture! If it wasn't for the cold feet part, I'd really go for some of that!
