Today I am grateful to all those wonderful people in the world who write songs.
Singing really does lift your spirits. I find my singing most of the time! There seems to be a song to cover every eventuality...I have even been known to sing the answer to a question one of the kids has asked me. Thomas has often said "is that really a song, or are you just making it up?" And most of the time, it really is a song!
This morning on the way to work it was "Birds flying high, you know how I feel"....it was a gorgeous bright morning and as I looked up there seemed to be birds everywhere. The sky was blue, the air was mild and I was "feeling good"!
Megan has discovered karaoke on you-tube and, of course, Thomas is always singing away, practicing for the school choir mostly....when he's not being Robbie Williams!!
Poor K was never allowed to sing at school. He was told by the teacher to sit and mime while the others sang!!! Can you imagine! I'm so glad that teachers these days have a bit more cop-on and tend, on the most part, to go down the route of encouragement! The saddest thing is that he CAN sing when he lets go and goes with the flow. When he stops worrying about it.
We all have a voice, and we should all be proud to use it. It is an instrument of pure joy.
Gratefully yours.
xx
I always remember that he liked to sing to the kids when they were babies - they knew a song from the heart when they heard one!
